Insatiable Coaching

Getting active after never being in sports or dance or any activity that was remotely related to being coordinated or fit was a struggle. I started becoming physically active at 17 by getting into hiking once a year, but I hadn't really incorporated fitness into my lifestyle. I remember feeling so behind when I started working out because my body just wasn't used to the challenge and really struggled to not give up every moment of it.

I started initially training by doing the P90X program when I was 20 and fell in love with it. I struggled, fell, dropped weights on my feet, and looked like a disaster but I loved working out in the privacy of my home and being able to see several people on a screen doing variations of the workout so that if you weren't able to do the exact move you had options until you built up to that point. After months of the program I felt more energetic and really appreciated feeling like I could go outside and do anything physically.

After returning from study abroad my husband and I began weight training. I hadn't worked out too much when I was abroad but I did kayak in the ocean; do rock climbing, gorge scrambling and surfing. I struggled every minute of it too. I realized that I wanted to do all of those things and not be dying while doing it! So weight training actually ignited my passion for fitness because I could start with light weights, build myself up and easily track my progress. I still today do weight training and customize weight training workouts for people too.

My last year of college I began taking my friends to the gym and also sending workouts in spreadsheets to girls on Instagram. I discovered that I really enjoyed helping other people achieve their goals and that it motivated me to be better as well.

Fast forward to a girl who is now graduated from college and working 50 hours a week as a financial analyst. I broke my foot in November of 2014 and was limited on my workouts as well as my time since I am pursuing my CPA. I had a BeachBody coach reach out to me and ask if I thought the 21dayfix would work for me with my foot and would I ever considering coaching.  Let me tell you, the program was only 30 minutes a day, easily worked around my healing foot and got me excited about fitness again.

I decided I wanted to coach because I really enjoyed it in college and helping people through BeachBody works better for me than taking people to the gym in person.

The hardest thing about a fitness journey is knowing where to start, how to start and how to keep going! I believe that helping people find a program that meets their needs while personalizing it for them and being a coach is what works best for me.

As a coach I help give advice on the workouts themselves, how to mix things up, I also supply my weight lifting workouts and provide nutrition advice. I eat clean 80% of the time and "cheat" 20% of the time and I find that balance helps keep my body feeling great while maintaining the fitness levels I want to have.

Meal planning, snack ideas, recipes, meal prep and general nutrient questions are something I offer as a coach and use my own experience to make these recommendations to people. As I learn more every day I will continue to share my knowledge with all of those around me.
